According to the agriculture department’s Batay Presyo , the retail prices of rice as of August 11 range from P38 to P60 in the metropolis.On the other hand, the priciest rice in Metro Manila is Local Special which is retailed for P48 to P60 per kilo.
The data also revealed that Imported Regular Milled rice is not available in markets monitored by the agriculture department. It was noted by the agency that “not available” means that there is no stock available or sold in the market. The DA said its market price monitoring in Metro Manila covered Commonwealth, Guadalupe, Las Piñas, Malabon, Marikina, Mega Q-Mart, Muntinlupa, Muñoz, Pasay, Pasig, Pritil, Quinta, and San Andres.
To recall, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. said during his campaign that he was aspiring to bring down the price of rice to P20 per kilo.
