Travelers, rejoice! ✈️ Air fares will get cheaper next month after the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) lowered the fuel surcharge rate for all flights by a notch.
Based on the CAB’s price matrix, the Level 4 fuel surcharge in June for domestic flights range as follows depending on the distance traveled:In May, the Level 5 domestic fuel surcharge stood at ₱151, ₱238, ₱316, ₱418, ₱487, and ₱542, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Level 4 passenger fuel surcharge for international flights are priced as follows based on destination:Comparatively, the Level 5 international flight fuel surcharge for May stood at ₱498.03, ₱676.20, ₱688.79, ₱774.75, ₱1,713.68, ₱2,163.32, ₱3,526.77, and ₱3,703.11, respectively.
The airline noted that the continuous lowering of passenger fuel surcharge “positively affected the travel behavior of guests as manifested in AirAsia Philippines’ March to May bookings which yielded 1.57 million seats which is equivalent to 75% of the pre-pandemic figure.” In December 2022, the fuel surcharge stood at Level 8. The CAB downgraded it to Level 7 in January, where it remained until March.
