CHARDON, Ohio – A small group of protestors that included members of the neo-fascist Proud Boys organization arrived on Chardon Square Saturday morning for the start of a drag brunch at Element 41 restaurant, but beyond chants and shouts there were no violent confrontations.
A ticket-only drag story time at Community Church of Chesterland is scheduled to follow at 4 p.m. The events are fundraisers for the church at the corner Wilson Mills and Caves. A supporter of LGBTQ+ rights who was with a number of other black-clothed and masked supporters in front of Element 41, stood proud and strong during the protest.
Mallory McMaster, owner of The Fairmont Group in Chardon and security coordinator said it’s disappointing that there are so many people who have come out to these events to scare the LGBTQ community away.
