Kota Kinabalu: The district-level “Character Ambassadors for the Catalyst of Karamah Insaniah (human dignity)” was held at SMK Sanzac, here, Tuesday.
The ambassadors would go on to serve as role models to their peers selected by criteria of outstanding academics, personality and social skills.State Education Department Deputy Director Muddin Beting said educating children in the modern era comes with added challenges, especially from social media.
“It is in the Ministry of Education’s best interests to value courage, perseverance, leadership, patience and communication skills as important values to shape smart and good children,” he said. “It is a medium for the Ministry and Royal Malaysian Police to spread understanding and awareness about symptoms of misconduct that can lead to crime if not curbed early,” he said. Also present was Sabah Contingent Crime Prevention and Community Security Department Head SAC Mohd Azhar Hamin who represented Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun.
