According to Mr Chalmers, the government banked 95 per cent of revenue from upward revisions of taxation last year, compared to an average of about 40 per cent under the previous government. Speaking to Sky News Australia on Friday, economist Chris Richardson explained that external factors were the driving force behind the improvement.
