SINGAPORE - Six people were taken to hospital following a chain collision on the PIE on the evening of April 22. When contacted, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the accident along the PIE towards Tuas, before the BKE exit, at about 9.40pm.

Three people were taken to National University Hospital and another three were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. At least four cars seem to be damaged, with either their boot compartment, car hood, or both, crumpled inwards. Traffic accidents claimed the lives of 136 people in 2023, a 25.9 per cent jump from the 108 deaths in 2022, according to the Traffic Police’s annual statistics report.
