The biggest goal is to assist local agencies by combating two obstacles related to community involvement: fear and a lack of concern.

Central Alabama Crimestoppers is a nonprofit working to combat crime in several cities and counties throughout the state.“We are taking over Dothan police Crimestoppers. They had a Crimestoppers and most Crimestopper programs takes resources, it takes manpower. It takes man hours. We consider our program one of the best in the nation. The reason being because if you call us, you get a live person 24-7,” Tony Garrett, the nonprofit’s Executive Director, said.

Central Alabama Crimestoppers provided training to local law enforcement regarding its software system. “We provide that resource such as our app, p3 tips app or the phone number, where you can call. Once you give us information, you remain anonymous. We send the information to that software and it goes directly to that investigation,” Garrett said.

Since 1997, Crimestoppers has dished out over $276,000 in rewards to those who have come forward with important information.One notable time Crimestoppers had a hand in is the capture of Darin Starr, one of the brothers involved in a Coffee County murder-for-hire case.They are working around the clock to help solve even more.and receive the latest local news and weather straight to your email every morning.
