The Central African Republic is grappling with a severe humanitarian crisis affecting approximately 2.4 million people, while the U.N.'s appeal for $534 million is only 36% funded.

Ayoya mentioned that CAR has welcomed 38,000 returnees and asylum-seekers from Chad and, more recently, 18,000 returnees and asylum-seekers from Sudan, which is currently embroiled in a protracted conflict between rival generals.
