CelcomDigi has a 5G Home WiFi plan that costs RM139 a month, that comes with no 5G router, but as a result doesn't have a two-year contract.
CelcomDigi revamped its 5G Home WiFi plan back in August, offering a 5G wireless router and 'unlimited' home internet for RM199 a month. There is now a variant of the plan that you can get for RM139 a month, with an introductory promotion cutting the monthly fee down further to RM99 a month.
Another aspect of this 5G Home WiFi plan is that it comes without a contract. As you'd expect, the catch here is that it doesn't come with a 5G WiFi router. This would be an option for those who already have their own, or intend to get their own prior to signing up for this plan. Beyond this key difference, you also won't have to fork out an up-front payment of RM480. Instead, there is a 'Plan Advance Payment' of RM99.
Naturally, despite the 'unlimited' tag attached to the plan, CelcomDigi still has a Fair Usage Policy in place, and will start throttling your connection speed once you've used 1000GB in a month. After this point, you'll be locked to 512kbps until you enter the next billing cycle. This is consistent with the existing 5G Home WiFi plan that comes with the router and 24-month contract.
All in all, unless you already have a compatible 5G WiFi router lying around, this probably wouldn't be a plan you sign up for. That being said, it's still an option for those who already have compatible hardware, or already know where to get one, to get an internet connection for their home without a contract period tied to the plan.
