A CBS News Battleground Tracker poll shows Democrat Josh Shapiro is ahead by nine points over Republican Doug Mastriano in the race for Pennsylvania governor.
Democrat Josh Shapiro is ahead by nine points over Republican Doug Mastriano in the race for Pennsylvania governor. Shapiro led by 11 points last month.
Since September, more Republicans have coalesced behind Mastriano, but not quite at the level they have around his GOP counterpart running for Senate, Mehmet Oz. Eighty-seven percent of Republicans are backing Mastriano, while 94% of Republicans are supporting Oz. Also helping Shapiro, most Pennsylvania voters feel Shapiro's views are"mainstream" and think Mastriano's are"extreme."
On issues, Shapiro leads big among voters who say abortion is very important in their vote. And he maintains his large lead from September among women, one that grows to more than 40 points among women who prioritize the issue of abortion.
