After missing out in Stage 3, Mark Cavendish (Astana-Qazaqstan) sprinted to victory in Stage 5 of the Tour de France to set a new all-time record for stage wins at the race with 35 in a historic day for cycling.

SBS On Demand Tour de France Hub    iOS  Android Caught in the middle of the pack of sprinters as the stage moved into the final few hundred metres, Cavendish used his experience and expertise to create an opening, launching out to the side of the road. It was a kick too powerful for his opponents to follow, the Manxman winning comfortably ahead of Jasper Philipsen in second and Alexander Kristoff in third.
