NFL and college football fans were shocked on Monday evening to learn about the tragic passing of former Arkansas Razorback star and Baltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins.
While the Ravens or Razorbacks did not reveal the cause of death, the Broward County Police Department in Florida“The crash occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13 near the 3300 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard,” the statement read. “The primary investigation revealed Alexander Collins was traveling eastbound on a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R600K motorcycle on West Oakland Park Boulevard approaching Northwest 33rd Avenue.
The statement then says that the Chevrolet driver turned left onto Northwest 33rd Avenue, and as the car crossed the eastbound lanes, Collins crashed into the passenger side of the SUV. The police say Collins was thrust through the passenger side window of the Chevrolet and “came to a final rest inside the car.”
Collins was pronounced dead on the scene, while the Chevrolet driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.Collins leaves behind a legacy as one of the greatest players in Arkansas football history, sitting second all-time in program rushing yards. He had just completed a season in the USFL playing for the Memphis Showboats.
