Catawba Island Brewing Co. is scheduled to host a beer release and fundraising event to support relief efforts in Ukraine.
The folks at the nine-year-old brewery sayin Lviv, Ukraine, provided open recipes and label designs for “The Victory Series.” They encouraged brewers across the world to brew the beers and donate proceeds for Ukrainian relief efforts.
Catawba Island brewed Pravda Beer Co.’s dry-hopped golden ale, Putin Huylo, which translates to an expletive that would offend no one in Ukraine. And in honor of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Catawba Island Brewing Co. is set to distribute the beer in cans and kegs under the name “Slava Ukraini,” which means “Glory to Ukraine.”thedrinksbusiness.com
, employees of the eight-year-old brewery this month began training in “mine-detection, stop-and-search and first aid, welding spikes for the road, transporting supplies and making more than 2,000 Molotov cocktails for distribution …” Those Molotov cocktails are made using Pravda beer bottles. The beer will be released at Catawba Island’s fundraising event noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 9. The brewery is at 2330 E. Harbor Road, Port Clinton. Profits from sales and fundraising activities will support Pravda Beer Co. Ukraine Relief Effort. Several U.S. breweries, from New Jersey to California, also are contributing to the effort.
“We’re excited to be part of this global beer brewing effort to help raise money for Ukraine to defend their country,” said Catawba Island Brewing Co. owner Michael Roder in a release.
