The Carling Knockout quarter-final draw has been made and Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a glamour tie to savour.
Chiefs, Magesi, Richards Bay, and Marumo Gallants were in the unseeded pot. Meanwhile, Sundowns, Cape Town City, TS Galaxy and Stellenbosch were the seeded sides after finishing in the top eight last season. Amakhosi knew they were getting a seeded opponent and got the most difficult task on paper. However, if they can get past the Brazilians they’ll quietly fancy their chances of going all the way. Here’s the full draw with the holders Stellenbosch travelling to Limpopo to face Marumo Gallants.
Chiefs thumped SuperSport 4-0 with goals from Gaston Sirino, Yusuf Maart, Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley Du Preez to stamp their ticket in the final eight of the Carling Knockout. Meanwhile, they have just under a week to wait until their next Betway Premiership fixture. They’ve started this campaign with two wins from three, and a recent defeat to Sundowns. Their goal, of course, will be to compete for next season’s MTN8 at a minimum.
