UPDATE: Police say car involved in Philadelphia-New Jersey chase is not connected to weekend mass shooting
The chase started in Philadelphia when officers spotted a shooting suspect in the area of Frankford and Allegheny avenues.A police pursuit began in Philadelphia and ended in South Jersey on Wednesday night.A 26-year-old man was taken into custody on drug charges.Highway patrol officers spotted a vehicle around Frankford and Allegheny avenues that fit the description of a Honda used in two recent shootings, including one last Saturday night where nine people were shot outside a Kensington bar.
A police helicopter immediately went up following the vehicle from Kensington, over the Tacony Palmyra Bridge and into New Jersey.The driver pulled into the Bradley Funeral Home parking lot near Evesham Road and Route 73. The driver exited the vehicle and ran to a wooded area."The text our neighbor sent said that we should stay inside," said Gerry Capistrano of Marlton.The vehicle was towed to a Philadelphia police garage for further examination.
Police later determined that the car was not linked to the two recent shootings in the Kensington area.
