KOTA KINABALU: Small and medium industry (SMI) traders and entrepreneurs in Sabah should take the initiative to improve the quality of their products and packaging in order to improve their businesses and further drive sales, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The Chief Minister also urged such entrepreneurs to capitalise on the help and facilities provided by the state and federal governments.
Hajiji said this when launching packaging company QPACK Sabah Sdn Bhd at the Sabah International Convention Centre here on Sunday .“I see QPACK Sabah's role in the packaging industry as being able to become a pillar for the development of SMEs and indirectly stimulate the business industry pattern in this state.
Towards this end, the Chief Minister said the additional special allocation in Budget 2023 of RM600mil for small traders in Sabah and Sarawak was a good initiative that should be taken up by businessmen as well as SMI entrepreneurs to improve their businesses. "In addition to this special allocation, the state government also allocated a total of RM6.17mil to the Department of Industrial Development and Research this year, to intensify the promotion of Sabah products to the domestic and international markets.
