Larrien Brown-Austin, 37, used threats of violence and drug addiction to force two victims into sex trafficking, authorities say.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 37-year-old Canton man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and must pay nearly $7,000 in fines and restitution after he pleaded guilty to his role in a sex-trafficking conspiracy that forced victims to perform sex acts in exchange for money.
“This defendant targeted vulnerable victims and exploited their drug dependency all in an attempt to make money and feed his own heinous and selfish wants,” First Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Baeppler said in a statement. “Human trafficking is an insidious crime and law enforcement will use every means available to ensure that these traffickers face justice.”
Court documents show Brown-Austin supplied his victims with drugs in an attempt to get them addicted and force them to rely on him for more drugs. Documents show Brown-Austin also used force, threats, acts of violence and drug addition to coerce the victims into performing sex acts. Brown-Austin also used the victims’ cell phones to track them at all times.
