After the coronavirus lockdown froze its cancer screening business, startup Ezra has shifted focus to testing for Covid-19 damage.

coronavirus hit the US.Gal has since shifted from cancer to Covid-19 to help patients—and his company—recover. On June 1, Ezra launched a new product to spot lung damage left in the wake of the disease. Dubbed Covid 360, the service pairs antibody testing, CT Scans, and telemedince test patients’s lungs for lasting Covid-19 injuries. Says Gal: “COVID 360 is a way to both help people and to kickstart the Ezra engine again.

The new Covid 360 product is more stopgap than technological jump. Ezra’s test relies on traditional CT scans—computer controlled X-rays—that do not use its AI software. Instead, Gal is offering easy scheduling and leaning on current relationships with imaging centers to deliver the tests for $390. “We're passing all of our savings to consumers, and we're selling our Covid 360 at cost,” says Gal. “We want to do it more to help people as opposed to turning it into a big product line.

For now, insurance covers none of Ezra’s tests for cancer or Covid-19 damage . Gal’s in talks with insurance companies and businesses about fully or partially covering the procedures—both as an employee perk and a cost saving move: “We're seeing a lot of insurance interest because they bear the costs of cancer treatment.” says Gal. “Treating cancer early is substantially more cost effective than treating cancer late. We're talking orders of magnitude.
