The Powerhouse Museum has lifted the curtain on a new, major exhibition - promising to lead us on a journey across time and memory.

All choices for the exhibit must be "remarkable" in some way whether by rarity, visual appeal or social history.

"The result is a cornucopia of eras, styles, form, function, size and colour, to stoke memories that so many have of this iconic institution and signal the beginning of a new phase in its marvellous existence", curatorium chair Leo Schofield said.Among the extraordinary objects is a rare Meissen porcelain satirical portrait bust of the court jester known as Baron Schmiedel, according to the Powerhouse Museum.

It is one of the oldest surviving bowed string instruments made in Australia by a professional instrument maker.
