learnt of the letter on the same day the Senate sat until after 4am, as Labor tries to push through a suite of bills before the federal budget in May.Labor’s affordable housing plan looks unlikely to pass. The letter is on behalf of a group of crossbenchers, but was signed only by Senator Lambie. She is optimistic Mr Albanese could take action before the May 9 budget.“I know he’s hearing other voices. I hope he’s hearing our voice on this one,” she said.She even raised the prospect of claims to the government’s workplace insurer Comcare if staff are forced to work long hours on a permanent basis.
