NSTregion: Japanese tourists were ranked seventh in the top 10 foreign visitors to Cambodia, with Chinese tourists topping the list.
Tourism Minister Thong Khon said they hoped to have more direct flights from Japanese cities to Phnom Penh and Siam Reap.
“The daily direct flights between Tokyo-Phnom Penh-Tokyo on All Nippon Airways has been successful for the last three years in providing better and easier travel options for Japanese and Cambodian tourists.“By adding more direct flights, it would also increase the number of tourists from third countries,” Khon said.
He also urged the Cambodian government to increase the number of tourist sites, as Japanese tourists mainly visited historical sites in Siem Reap. A Tourism Ministry report said that in the first nine months of the year, 149,470 Japanese tourists visited Cambodia.
