The South-East Asian country has no death sentence for a drug trafficker.
A Laotian man and a Vietnamese man, both aged 36 years old, were apprehended last Thursday at a shopping mall's parking area in the capital's Meanchey district after a probe for several months.
"Some 40.5kg of crystal methamphetamine and a Toyota Highlander were confiscated from the duo during the raid," the National Police said on its website. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80gm of illicit drugs could be jailed for life. According to the country's Anti-Drug Police Department, Cambodia nabbed 4,485 drug-related suspects, including 67 foreigners, during the January-March period of 2023, seizing a total of 240.8kg of narcotics.
Most of the seized drugs are ketamine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, and cathinone.
