The local government units of Caloocan and Quezon Cities have prepared different programs to empower women as part of the cities’ celebration of Women’s Month.
“Ngayong Women’s Month, ating bigyang-pugay ang lahat ng kababaihan. Napakalaki ng kontribusyon at papel na ginagampanan ng mga kababaihan, sa kasaysayan man o sa kasalukuyan. Kaya saludo po kami sa inyong kadakilaan, tapang, lakas at galing sa iba’t-bang aspeto ng buhay ,” Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along “ Malapitan said.
The city government said it will be conducting activities for the women, including a gender awareness seminar and free medical services including pelvic ultrasound, mammogram, breast ultrasound, cervical screening and pap smear, women’s congress, and a bazaar. Caloocan City Gender and Development Coordinating Office Officer-in-Charge Jan Christine Bagtas encouraged women, citizens, and city hall employees to avail of the said free services the city government offers.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook post on Saturday, March 4, the Quezon City government also shared the calendar of its activities for Women’s Month which includes seminars for women empowerment, lecture about violence against women and children, essay writing and poster making contests, pap smear testing, cervical and breast cancer screening, eye check-up, zumba, livelihood training programs, and milk letting...
