A new campaign is calling on the federal government to immediately ban engineered stone imports and manufacturing, with the CFMEU promising a ban on its members working with the product if the government does not step in.
Silicosis is preventable but it is not curable, said Jane Bourke from Monash University.
Silicosis patients Kyle Goodwin and Jo Mcneill are both supporting a campaign to ban engineered stone products. Physician Ryan Hoy said the issue was "one of the biggest failures of workplace health and safety we've seen".
