The summer coronavirus surge caused by the highly contagious Delta variant is showing signs of slowing in some parts of California but worsening in others.with hospitals filling and health officials raising alarms, saying things could get worse before they get better. The San Joaquin Valley, the Sacramento area and rural Northern California are now the regions of the state being hit the hardest by COVID-19 hospitalizations on a per capita basis, according to a Los Angeles Times analysis.
