A Democratic California lawmaker has echoed calls to launch a criminal investigation into Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) after the governor flew dozens of immigrants to Sacramento earlier this year.

State Assemblymember Evan Low, representing Silicon Valley, proposed a resolution on Tuesday calling for a federal investigation and"accountability" for DeSantis's use of the state’s program to fly immigrants to so-called sanctuary jurisdictions “under false pretenses.

“To lie and deceive human beings just trying to survive and support their families in order to transport them unknowingly to California for the purpose of scoring cheap political points is unconscionable, and these inhumane and illegal actions should be swiftly investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Low said.

Months later, the Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois called on the Department of Justice to launch an investigation into last year’s transportation of 49 immigrants sent to Martha’s Vineyard.
