Brush fire near Ramona threatening structures [Breaking]

A brush fire that started at about noon Monday east of Ramona threatened homes before firefighters were able to halt its forward spread, Cal Fire reported.

Authorities advised people living in the area to be prepared to evacuate. They set up a temporary evacuation point at Olive Peirce Middle School, 1521 Hanson Lane in Ramona. An animal evacuation center opened at the Ramona Rodeo grounds, 421 Aqua Lane. Watch Commander: A brush fire is burning in the Ramona Area near SR 78 and Ramona Trails. There's concern the fire may spread to nearby homes, so be prepared to evacuate if a notification is made in your area or deputies tell you to go.The temperature in the area is 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, with winds blowing out of the west-northwest at 10 to 15 mph.
