Rivers United on Sunday advanced into the group stage of the Confederation of African Football Confederations Cup (CAFCC) after a 2-0 win over Etoile Filante de Quagadougou of Burkina Faso
The Stanley Eguma-led boys scored two late goals to edge the visitors and completed a 2-0 aggregate win over Etoile Filante de Quagadougou following a goalless first leg in Burkina Faso.The first penalty was awarded in the 18th minute but Edebiri Endurance’s spot-kick was saved by the goalkeeper.
Farouk Mohammed also missed the second spot-kick awarded for a handball on 65 minutes.Midfielder Alex Oyowah however saved the day for Rivers United when he netted the first goal from a cutback in the 89th minute before dispatching the third penalty awarded on the day to seal a deserved win.Advertisement
