The Cabbage Tree Island Aboriginal community will not be rebuilt following last year's catastrophic floods in the NSW far north with the government saying the risks of future flooding events, and to human life, are too high.

The Jali Aboriginal Land Council has instead resolved to build 26 residential homes in the nearby village of Wardell.
