The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has expressed disappointment over the alleged poor maintenance and sloppy security measures
CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, along with other officials and technical experts, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the airport to check its overall operations.
Some areas of concern were observed, such as security, management, and maintenance of the airport’s infrastructure. Tamayo said he was disappointment with the sad state of the airport and ordered the facility’s staff to improve their safety measures and maintain the airport’s equipment and facilities.The Bacolod-Silay International Airport is deemed crucial for travel to and from Negros Occidental and the Western Visayas region, contributing to tourism and economic growth.
In coordination with the Transportation Department, the CAAP is committed to allocating P80 million in funds for the airport’s development in 2024. With the inspection, CAAP reiterates its dedication to upholding the highest standards of aviation safety and efficiency nationwide, guaranteeing a safe and enjoyable travel experience at all airports in the Philippines.
