C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels explains the origin of his cameo in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Episode II was released in 2002 as the second entry in George Lucas’ Star Wars prequel trilogy. Taking place 10 years after The Phantom Menace, the film sees a separatist movement threaten the Republic and begin the Clone Wars just as Anakin Skywalker professes his love to Padmé Amidala , all of which leads to the eventual rise of the Galactic Empire in Revenge of the Sith.
The Star Wars franchise has featured many musicians, actors, and celebrities in cameos throughout its 11 movies and several shows. For example, during a bar scene in Attack of the Clones, Obi-Wan Kenobi famously uses a Jedi mind trick on dealer Elan Sel’Sabagno, who he tells “you don't want to sell me Death Sticks." The latter role is played by Matt Doran, who audiences might recognize as Mouse from The Matrix.
While Daniels didn’t appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO and R2-D2 did make quick cameos in the Disney+ series’ episode 1. As the pair were in service of Bail and Breha Organa at the end of Revenge of the Sith, the pair can briefly be seen at different times different the scenes on Alderaan. Given this, the Star Wars tradition of “blink-and-you'll-miss-them” cameos appears to be alive and well all these years after Attack of the Clones.
