Two hours before the time to break the fast, the mosque next to the North Square of the Yogyakarta Palace was already busy. One by one, the worshipers entered the 251-year-old mosque's courtyard. At 4:45 pm, mosque staff announced that free iftar meals were available and could be taken.
It didn't take long before two tables on the staircase at the entrance of the porch were crowded by worshipers. The tables were filled with food packages served on plates. The table on the south side was designated for female worshipers, while the one on the north side was for male worshiper
