KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 ― Bursa Malaysia remained slightly higher at mid-afternoon today, with the key index rising by 0.23 per cent amid mild buying interests in selected heavyweights.The market bellwether opened 5.35 points higher at 1,407.16.

On the broader market, gainers led decliners by 389 to 348, while 410 counters were unchanged, 1,107 untraded and seven others suspended.Among the heavyweights, Maybank rose six sen to RM8.40, Public Bank rose three sen to RM3.98, CIMB advanced five sen to RM5.20, CelcomDigi jumped eight sen to RM4.23, Petronas Chemicals trimmed 11 sen to RM6.89, Tenaga Nasional eased one sen to RM9.46 and IHH Healthcare went down two sen to RM5.82.

Among the actives, Malaysia Building Society bagged one sen to 65.5 sen, Velesto edged up half-a-sen to 19.5 sen, Sapura Energy was flat at 4.5 sen, while Green Packet, Hong Seng Consolidated and Top Glove inched down half-a-sen each to five sen, 13.5 sen and 90 sen. On the index board, the FBM Emas Index climbed 20.33 points to 10,269.44, the FBM 70 Index increased 14.65 points to 13,226.54, the FBMT 100 Index advanced 20.02 points to 9,967.53, the FBM Emas Shariah Index added 3.21 points to 10,589.52 and the FBM ACE Index ticked up 8.91 points to 5,227.64.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 70.49 points up to 15,524.51, the Energy Index grew 6.18 points to 791.39, the Plantation Index decreased by 34.45 points to 6,746.02 and the Industrial Products and Services Index was 0.31 of-a-point easier at 167.23. ― Bernama
