Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has agreed to a contract extension that runs through the 2027-28 season. The Bucks agreed to sign Antetokounmpo to a three-year maximum contract extension worth $186 million Monday, according to two people with knowledge of the situation, in a deal that removes any lingering speculation about the two-time MVP’s future.
The 28-year-old forward had been under contract through the 2025-26 season, and this agreement will run through the 2027-28 campaign. The seven-time all-star holds a player option for the 2027-28 season and will be able to enter free agency in July 2027 at the age of 32. Entering this season, Antetokounmpo has already earned more than $190 million in salary during his 10-year career.
Antetokounmpo and Lillard have become fast friends — Antetokounmpo referred to his new sidekick as “a little version of me” after their first preseason game together — and the new-look Bucks enter the season as one of the top title contenders.
