The U.S. Department of State announced today the college and universities that sent the most Fulbright U.S. Students and U.S. Scholars abroad in academic year 2021-2022.
The Fulbright Program was created to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and people from other countries. It is funded primarily by an annual federal appropriation to the Begun in 1946, the Fulbright Program awards approximately 8,000 grants annually. Roughly 2,000 U.S. students, 4,000 foreign students, over 800 U.S. scholars, and 900 visiting scholars receive awards, in addition to several hundred teachers and professionals.
Since its inception, more than 400,000 students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals from all backgrounds and fields have received Fulbright awards. According to the, “the global network of Fulbrighters fosters mutual understanding between the United States and partner nations, advances knowledge across communities, and improves lives around the globe.”
