Between June 2023 and June 2024, the British government earned over N40 billion processing visas for Nigerian nationals, with at least 225,000 UK visa applications processed. Despite this, a rise in study visa rejection rates in Nigeria was observed, with one in eight applications declined in Q4 2023.
The British government earned over N40 billion processing visas for Nigerian nationals between June 2023 to June 2024. Marc Owen, director of visa, status and information services at UK visas and immigration, stated that at least 225,000 UK visa applications from Nigeria were processed during this period. The British High Commission in Lagos noted that the UK continues to ensure its visa services remain accessible, efficient, and meet the needs of applicants.
However, earlier in the year, data from the British government indicated a rise in study visa rejection rates for Nigeria, with one in eight applications being declined in Q4 2023, compared to one in 31 in Q4 2022
