With little land left for new housing estates, most future residential growth in Brisbane will be within existing suburbs.

Most of the new dwelling growth in Brisbane will now be within existing suburbs because there is very little space left for new residential estates, Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said on Tuesday.An example of a planned nine-storey infill residential development close to public transport in Nundah.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner says Brisbane’s residential growth will need to be within existing suburbs, not new estates.“The targets and the plan set in 2017 are well and truly out of date now, so we support the plan being reviewed.”and with Planning Minister Steven Miles showed wide variations in land supply across the south-east’s council areas.

These areas are classed as Brisbane’s Suburban Renewal Precincts, a scheme first identified in the last Brisbane City Council budget.
