Succession star Brian Cox has told how his sisters looked after him after his father died of cancer and his mother had a mental breakdown.
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on The Bookshelf podcast, which is out today, he said: “My sisters looked out for me but I don’t know how I survived and the irony of it all is that I never felt bad about it, it was only on reflection I realised that seems like a pretty horrible childhood.” He credits these classic comics, which detailed stories like the classics Huckleberry Finn and Tale of Two Cities as well as some of the earlier Marvel stories.
In comparison, the hit show Succession in which he plays Logan Roy really highlights the entitlement that some people have – like the Roy children. Brian credits his childhood and being introduced to the arts as keeping him grounded.
