President Bola Tinubu has conferred the award of Grand Commander of the Order of Nigeria on the Awujale and the paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.

The recognition was bestowed upon the royal father during his 90th birthday celebration held at the Oba Sikiru Adetona School of Governance, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and graced by dignitaries and well-wishers from across the nation. Representing President Tinubu at the ceremony, Vice President Kashim Shettima lauded Awujale as an extraordinary figure in Nigerian democracy, stressing that he is known for his unwavering dedication to national development.

The President hailed the paramount ruler's sincerity of purpose and courage, which he noted have earned him admiration and respect throughout the country. In addition to the prestigious honour, President Tinubu announced that the management of the Oba Sikiru Adetona School of Governance will be entrusted to the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
