The Kano State Police Command has vowed to enforce the recently announced state government ban on all forms of public protests.
In a statement released on Wednesday, CP Gumel emphasized the importance of maintaining public order and urged all residents of Kano State to comply with the government’s directive. The police commissioner highlighted that joint security forces have been placed on high alert to ensure that the ban is strictly adhered to and to swiftly address any attempts to disrupt the state's peace.
He said the decision to ban protests follows credible intelligence suggesting that opposition elements were planning to incite chaos under the guise of public demonstrations, particularly in relation to the contentious issue of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.
