A Breaking Bad star has reportedly joined the cast of Scream 6 filmmakers Radio Silence's upcoming Universal Monsters movie. The production company Radio Silence made their name with cult horror films like V/H/S and Devil’s Due before taking a step up with 2019’s Ready or Not. That movie was enough of a hit to score Radio Silence their biggest project ever in 2022’s Scream franchise revival, which was followed with 2023’s hit Scream 6.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Details are hard to come by as regards Radio Silence's planned entry in the Universal Monsters franchise, but it’s being reported by Deadline that Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito has been added to the cast in an undisclosed role. Esposito joins previously revealed cast members Melissa Barrera, Alisha Weir, Dan Stevens, Kevin Durand, Kathryn Newton, Angus Cloud, and Will Catlett.
Giancarlo Esposito Is Ready To Be A Horror Villain A distinguished character actor with a career stretching back to the 1970s, Esposito became a late-blooming star when he took the role of mysterious drug kingpin Gus Fring in the acclaimed series Breaking Bad. Having demonstrated his ability to play a cold-blooded villain, Esposito then made the leap to the Star Wars universe to portray an even badder bad guy: Baby Yoda-kidnapping Imperial officer Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian.
It has not been revealed whether Esposito will play a hero or a villain in Radio Silence’s mystery-shrouded Universal Monsters project, but casting the Gus Fring actor to play anything other than a bad guy would seem a waste of his talents. Horror villainy indeed seems like the next logical step for Esposito after embodying both the steely Gus Fring and the maniacal Moff Gideon.
