was one of the most efficient red-zone weapons throughout the 2022 college football season. Willis converted a career-high 39 receptions into seven receiving touchdowns. That sort of production makes Willis an intriguing tight end prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft.NFL Scouting CombineJM: The first thing that jumps out at me when studying your game is efficiency. You had seven receiving touchdowns on 39 receptions in 2022.
You get to really separate from coverage with those routes. Those routes give you a lot of room to stem and create separation. That’s why those are some of my favorite routes to run. That mentality followed me to Oklahoma. I took pride in doing everything I did at Oklahoma. Whether that was catching touchdowns or executing a block that sprung a big run, I loved every part of it. You only have so many opportunities. I tried to help my team on a snap-by-snap basis. I wanted to contribute to victories.
Brayden Willis: I 100% do. It was the same thing at Oklahoma. I knew I had to play special teams to get on the field quickly. I wanted to make our travel squad. I wanted to contribute to victories by making big special teams plays. It’s going to be the same thing in the NFL. Special teams are huge at every level of football. My experience in that area is going to allow me to step into a role on Day 1.Brayden Willis: It was a great experience.
JM: There’s so much interest in you and it’s easy to see why. I want to throw a fun scenario at you. If you were going to war tomorrow and could only bring one person with you, who would you bring and why? JM: That’s hilarious .
