A young boy in China caused a major explosion after tossing firecrackers into a sewer, resulting in significant damage to eight vehicles and a hefty financial burden for his family.

A young boy in China is facing serious consequences after a seemingly harmless prank turned into a costly disaster. The boy, who remains unnamed, tossed firecrackers into a sewer, triggering a methane explosion that sent vehicles airborne and caused significant damage. The incident occurred in Zizhong county, Sichuan, on January 30. Eight cars were damaged, including high-end brands such as Porsche, BMW, and Audi.

Insurance companies have estimated the total losses to be around 285,000 yuan (RM174,403). The boy's family is primarily responsible for the financial burden. The force of the explosion was so powerful that some vehicles were lifted off the ground, with one being completely overturned. Miraculously, the boy escaped unharmed. Police located him an hour later and brought him and his parents in for questioning. Authorities have not yet disclosed any penalties they may face. Several insurance companies, including China Pacific Insurance and Ping An Insurance, have been involved in covering the damages. Legal experts suggest that the boy's family could potentially reduce their liability if they can prove negligence in the sewer's maintenance. Additionally, questions have been raised about whether the restaurant adjacent to the lawn where the explosion occurred directed customers to park there, potentially shifting some responsibility onto the business. The boy's grandmother has since posted an emotional apology video online, expressing deep regret for the incident and pleading for compassion from the public. She acknowledged her responsibility for the situation and apologized for the harm caused
