MIRI: A frantic search is on for a 14-year-old boy who went missing while swimming with friends in a man-made lake in a remote plantation in Sri Aman district in southern Sarawak.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department has deployed search teams and divers to the site in Stumbin Plantation, located about 200km north of Kuching.
The department, in its latest updates on Wednesday , said search efforts are being done on the surface and banks of the lake and in the waters. The boy from Rumah Suyung longhouse went missing about 5pm on Tuesday evening while playing in the waters with a group of friends, said the department.Aside from Fire and Rescue searchers and divers, the police, Civil Defence Unit and also local villagers are carrying out searches in the vicinity.
After the boy went missing in the lake, his friends alerted their family members, who in turn called the authorities for help.Article type: free
