“We offer our condolences to the family and hope to give them justice,” she added.
The report from the Borongan City police showed that the suspect and the victim, both residents of Barangay Baras, were last seen together in Barangay Pinanag-an, about a kilometer away from the village. “There were eyewitnesses who saw the two together on their way back to Barangay Baras on that day . But it was only the suspect who reached the village. This bolsters our suspicion that he was responsible for the rape and killing of the six-year-old girl,” said Lieutenant Colonel Dexter Astacaan, city police chief.
The body of the girl, who was strangled to death based on the medical examination, was found about 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the village’s storage tank.Subscribe to our daily newsletter
