Books not seized, just taken to check contents, says Saifuddin

The home minister says the books will be returned if they don’t contain any elements that can disturb public peace.

Author Benz Ali complained that home ministry officials seized two books from his bookshop in Kuala Lumpur although these were not on the banned list.

At a press conference after the ministry’s monthly assembly, Saifuddin said the ministry’s officials had “taken” two books from the bookstore in Kuala Lumpur to be examined for any illegal elements. Last Friday, local author Benz Ali complained that home ministry officials seized two books from his bookstore despite them not being on the banned list.
