The Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers capitalized on two turnovers in overtime to upset the defending champion Letran Knights, 85-79, Sunday evening at the start of the 99th National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Miranda, Dionisio and Joshua Guiab came into the picture with their big games, right after Letran took the lead for the last time, 77-76, off Kurt Reyson’s two freebies with 3:41 left. After Paul Javillonar’s putback kept Letran within range, Guiab scored off Miranda’s pass in the last 45 seconds to keep the Heavy Bombers out of range, 82-79.
