Residents across NSW are being warned to brace for risky bushfire conditions this weekend, after a challenging week for many communities.
The Rural Fire Service has declared total fire bans for the Upper Central West Plains, Lower Central West Plains and North Western regions today. The possibility of storms and lightning strikes combined with strong winds are also a cause for concern at the RFS."It can pick up small particles that are burning or smouldering and carry those embers ahead of the fire front, which can start spot fires.
"Places like the southern inland would be sort of in the high teens, if not the mid-teens, so a broad gradient across the state due to that cold front," Mr Notara said. The warning for tomorrow's fire danger comes after the RFS confirmed seven homes were destroyed in a bushfire west of Kempsey in the same blaze thatOne home was been destroyed in the Booral Road fire at Girvan and three in the Rocky River Road blaze near Tenterfield.
"It's quite steep country, quite a few trees burning and falling down, so we haven't been able to get impact assessment teams in there until it's been deemed safe" he said.
