The body was spotted in the Bethlehem Township portion of the river.
Police are investigating after a body was found Friday afternoon in the Lehigh River in Northampton County.
Authorities were contacted at 3:50 p.m. for a body spotted in the river from the bike trail near Route 33 in Bethlehem Township, a supervisor at the county 911 center confirmed. Authorities responded to the nearby boat launch and Bethlehem Township police Capt. Shaun Powell confirmed the body was recovered Friday.Coroner Zachary Lysek did not immediately respond to messages Saturday morning asking about the identity of the person and if an autopsy will be scheduled to determine a cause and manner of death.
