The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office is one of several law enforcement agencies across Northern California over the past several weeks to have mentioned that rivers currently are too fast, too cold and too full for safe swimming. Months of heavy snowfall during the winter months have put many rivers in the same situation in that they're too dangerous for water activities, especially since there is still plenty of snowmelt.
This also includes the Clavey River. The sheriff's office said deputies got a report about a woman's body spotted by a drone. The body was about 400 yards downstream of the Clavey Bridge near Cottonwood Road. Deputies used safety lines to help pull the woman before having her airlifted to the bridge where the Tuolumne County Coroner examined the body.
